WILL MY MARRIAGE BE LEGAL?

No: In England and Wales for a wedding to be legally recognised the marriage needs to be conducted in a licensed and registered venue by a registered registrar. You can do this before or after the wedding day, which is where I can officiate your wedding ceremony that is more meaningful and personal to you both.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CELEBRANT AND A REGISTRAR?                                                        A registrar, is responsible for legally registering births, deaths and marriages. In the case of marriages, they allow about 20 minutes for a small non secular event, usually in the town hall. They sometimes travel to a venue for weddings, this will cost more, and needs to be in a licensed wedding venue. For some this is enough, but if you want something that is more personal, inclusive of your spirituality, more ceremonial and bespoke, then a celebrant is the way to go, but we are not responsible for the legal aspect of a marriage.

DOES IT MATTER WHAT RELIGION, FAITH OR CULTURE WE BELONG TO?

No: We are not all practicing the faiths we grew up with, it doesn’t mean that spirituality and faith might not be part of your life. Or indeed you may be people from very different spiritual backgrounds and may want a ceremony that reflects this. I want to create ceremonies that are truly reflective of you.

WHERE CAN WE HOLD OUR CEREMONY?

The great thing about a celebrant led wedding, is that the world is your oyster, as far as possible wedding venue options go. As long as within the realms of health and safety! In your back garden, your local pub, on a beach, a farm or that grand manor house; the limit is your imagination. This is also another reason to choose a celebrant led wedding, as Registrars are more restricted in where they can perform a ceremony.

HOW LONG DOES A CEREMONY LAST?

On average, a ceremony can be anything between 30 and 40 minutes.                                                                                                                          Depending on what you want to create, it could be a whole lot longer.                                                                  CAN WE WRITE OUR OWN VOWS?

Yes, and I can help you. If you need it, we can have a session that is all about drawing out what is inside of you that needs to be said. I can help pin point what’s important and also help you with the structure. But if you are confident, you can simply use me for practice!

WILL I NEED A REHEARSAL?

This depends on you and also how elaborate the ceremony is and how many people are involved. General rule of thumb is the bigger the event the more likely a rehearsal is essential. It doesn’t necessarily have to be at the venue, as it might not be available to you until the day. We can discuss this in the planning stages, and book it in. It is included in the basic price as well.
WHY USE A CELEBRANT?

A celebrant can give you the ceremony you want. I am only limited by imagination (oodles of that), practicalities and health and safety (the boring bits)!

I found this very good site that may also give you further help with your questions: Mumming on a Budget, https://sayidoonabudget.com/2017/10/11/celebrant-led-wedding-ceremony/#more-5480

And of course you can just get in touch with any questions you might have.
